Post 06: Boyds rhetorical strategies
Boyd uses the murder mystery to help explain that we all have a detective side when it comes to writing. When finding research and people to to cite from you go on a wild chase trying to find the right information and/or something that improves your argument. Boyd also give advice on how to start your writing. In "Murder! (Rhetorically Speaking)" Boyd says, "Every piece of writing needs a starting point and a perspective, it is true, and the demands of the genre—in this instance the reports of detectives—shaped the very first words of your response"(90). Just a few lines above this quote she was saying how each genre has a different reader. You might not know who it is. But, having a good starting point a good intro that leads into your topic well is very helpful.
I really agree with the way you interpreted the essay. Finding research and citing sources are just as important when writing. Also having a good starting intro for your topic is great!
